Core Focus

Unloads and loads customer product, scans product, and places it correctly in warehouse. Maintains a safe and clean work area.  Able to operate various powered equipment lifts throughout the course of the work day while meeting the efficiency expectations of the position.

Job Description

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Load and unload freight using equipment in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Move product to storage areas with proper equipment. 
  • Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate area.
  • Check or count freight for accuracy and/or damage.
  • Conduct operations in a manner, which promotes safety.
  • Participate in physical inventories, as needed.
  • Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently. Equipment to include (but not limited to) stand up forklifts, stand up straddle trucks, walk behinds, pallet jacks, double pallet jacks and radio frequency equipment.
  • Report all safety malfunctions on equipment.
  • Comply with OSHA standards.
  • Must be able to meet production standards.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work environment.
  • Follow attendance policy, show up for work on time and ready to work assigned shift.
  • Performs visual and operational vehicle safety inspections and reports any unsafe vehicles to shift supervisor or maintenance personnel.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all cases and pallets are properly identified with appropriate labels.
  • Performs count/exception on pick slot locations if quantities are less than requested by warehouse management system and related components.
  • Secures selected cases and conducts final pallet preparations by wrapping selected load and applying shipping labels.
  • Prepares and places assembled case pick pallets and moves assembled pallets from picking areas to a dock door or staging area.
  • Observes, reports and corrects (when appropriate) all unsafe and unsanitary conditions that could cause employee and/or customer accidents.

 EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

•   High School diploma or equivalent

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required
  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
  • Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
  • Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
  • Working knowledge of the warehouse management system
  • Working knowledge of inbound/outbound process
  • Considerable skill in efficiently lifting, stacking and building quality pallets

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ABILITIES

  • Regularly standing/sitting on a powered industrial trucks lifting up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
  • Having a good sense of balance
  • Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
  • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
  • Ability  to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
